Steps' Priorities and Ambitions

For over 30 years Steps has been transforming the lives of children with complex special needs, and supporting their families. We are constantly seeking ways to improve and extend our services, so that we can help more children and improve the lives of more families.

More than ever we need your support so we can be there for the children that attend Steps.

Our work relies heavily on grants, donations and the generosity of our kind supporters to keep our services running. With your help we can continue to offer a free service to every child who attends Steps giving them the chance to take their life-changing first steps, both physically and mentally towards a brighter future.

Our Priorities

 
  • To provide early intervention and specialist help where needed.
  • To provide one-to-one and small group conductive education sessions.
  • To supply specialist equipment and resources.
  • To support families with guidance and emotional wellbeing.
  • To ensure that children across Leicestershire and beyond can access the opportunities that they deserve.

Our Ambitions

  • To widen our offer of services to support every child’s needs.
  • To provide visits into the home to build relationships with families.
  • To provide weekly swimming therapy.
  • To encourage children’s mobility by providing sensory movement sessions.
  • To work closely with mainstream schools and other educational settings to enable children to make a smooth transition at the appropriate time.

How your Trust, Foundation or business can get involved

  • Donations towards our ongoing running costs – we need to raise c. £250,000 per year to keep the service free at the point of delivery to our families.
  • Donations towards the cost of particular projects or the purchase of pieces of equipment.
  • Sponsorship of a staff post.
  • Sponsorship of a particular child.
  • Sponsorship of a particular group session.
  • Sponsorship of a fundraising event.
