Meet the team
Trish Edwards - Centre Manager
The Centre Manager holds the NNEB Diploma, the 7307 Adult and Further Education Teaching Certificate and the Cert Ed. She has many years experience of leading and managing settings and was an Early Years lecturer in both Derby and Hull for many years. Before joining Steps in 2009, Trish was an Early Years Consultant in Yorkshire. Her leadership skills and dedication to working with children is an asset to Steps.
Indila Simandi - Team Leader
The Team Leader trained at Peto Institute in Hungary where she qualified as a conductor and teacher. As well as her academic knowledge, Indila has first-hand experience of a brother with cerebal palsy and he was her introduction to conductive education. She has lived in England since the mid 90s, working in serveral conductive education centres and has been working at Steps since 2001.
Lisa Walker - Senior Nursery Officer
Lisa has been at Steps since 1999. The Senior Nursery Officer holds the NNEB Level 3 Diploma in Nursery Nursing. She is SENCO for Steps and Behaviour Named Person. She has completed safeguarding training, spent two weeks at the Peto Institute in Hungary and completed the ongoing training at Steps. In addition, Lisa, along with all of the staff, has attended many conferences.
Debbie Crate - Safeguarding Officer
Debbie has been employed at Steps since 1996 and has a level 3 in Childcare and Education. Debbie is the safeguarding Officer for Steps and a Senior Nursery Officer. She qualified with an NVQ3 in 2003. Debbie has spent several weeks in Hungary studying conductive education and has completed the Face to Face Befriender course. She has three children, the eldest of whom has cerebral palsy.
Jane Hewitt
Jane has a degree in Behavioural Science and a teaching qualification in nursery and primary education. She has worked in conductive education for 20 years and, having worked alongside numerous conductors, and spent a month in Hungary training at the Peto Institute, has built up her knowledge and experience of working with children with a wide range of motor disabilities and special educational needs. She has also worked with mainstream schools in helping to integrate these children into their education settings. She feels privileged to have worked for Steps for the last four years.
Rose Frostick
Rose has been with Steps since its beginning. She has a teenage son with cerebral palsy and helped to set up Steps. She started as a volunteer, and then became an employee. She has attended training in safeguarding children and first aid and has spent several weeks in Hungary studying conductive education. Rose completed her NVQ3 training in June 2003.
